How else can I explain the fact that the little French girl that I am arrived in Montreal? I could give you a complete account of my life, from birth to this day, but I will spare you from that. Let\u2019s focus instead on how I came to Middle.<\/p>\n<h2>Life laughs<\/h2>\n<p>So yes, it changed a lot, but I always had something to answer the fateful question \u201cWhat do you want to be when you grow up?\u201d To be honest, my plans involved military aviation. Then, with some difficulty in math, and teachers destroying my self-confidence with the wonderful phrase \u201cIt\u2019s not a woman\u2019s job\u201d, everything fell apart. What do I do now? Everything was planned and mapped out.<\/p>\n<p>The time came to reflect on my strengths and weaknesses. I\u2019m pretty good at French, I write pretty well and I like reading. Ok, so what about a Bachelor of Arts (the equivalent of a Bachelor of Literature in Quebec)? Three years have passed, and I\u2019m now in graduate school, but I still don\u2019t know what to do next. Continue? Join the army anyway? Go abroad?<\/p>\n<h2>Not <em>Emily in Paris<\/em>, but rather Laurana in Montreal<\/h2>\n<p>I graduated. Now what? I applied for a working holiday permit to come to Canada. It\u2019s a draw, I don\u2019t necessarily believe in it, but why not? The summer of 2021 comes and goes, and still no news, so I fill in application forms for the army. One week after I submitted them, I received an email from Service Canada: \u201cYou have been selected\u201d. Bye-bye army, I\u2019m going to Canada! All the administrative steps to make this trip possible followed. And then comes the end of May 2022: the departure. And above all the arrival.<\/p>\n<p>The change.<\/p>\n<p>The adventure.<\/p>\n<p>The jump.<\/p>\n<p>I arrived in Montreal knowing absolutely no one (or rather, only friends of friends), I had an apartment (phew!), but no job. All that\u2019s left to do is search, right?<\/p>\n<h2>The unexpected<\/h2>\n<p>There is nothing left to do but search, indeed. And I am searching. A month goes by and still nothing. Dozens of applications, no answer. I start to despair. I have pretty good writing skills, but it\u2019s not always enough. And just when I start to think coming to Canada might not have been such a good idea, it appears. Agence Middle\u2019s job posting for a Social Media Manager position. Maybe that\u2019s where my new life takes a turn.<\/p>\n<p>As a logo: a unicorn. The description mentions a dog in the office\u2013it\u2019s almost too good to be true! I apply, but I\u2019m only hoping. An hour later, I receive an email from Chlo\u00e9, the Administrative Assistant, with a writing test. Okay, they liked my resume, that\u2019s something. I sent the test back and was invited to an interview. It was quite positive. It went well, and I was invited for a second interview in person this time. I have high hopes. And then\u2026 \u201cHello Mom? I\u2019m hired at Agence Middle!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>You plan, you schedule and life takes care of the rest. It brought me to Canada, and then to Agence Middle.
